In 2012 I set off to run the New York City Marathon. A marathon is 42.2km or 26.2miles long. The New York Marathon started off in 1970 with the event taking place in Central Park. Now is is considered one of the world’s largest marathons with over 50 000 runners taking part. For many runners it is a ‘must-do’ race and one that I had hoped to take part in. Nature intervened and Hurricane Sandy crashed onto the shores creating havoc and heartache everywhere. This is my personal account of my experience in the Big Apple…Enjoy!
